'Star Wars: Episode 8' plot spoilers update: Long-awaited family reunion expected
The unexpected death of Carrie Fisher is sure to make "Star Wars: Episode 8" a more meaningful film. Making it more special is what her character, General Leia Organa, will be up to in the film.
The latest reports suggest that the upcoming film will finally mark the long-awaited reunion of Leia (Carrie Fisher) and her brother Luke (Mark Hamill), who isolated himself following his failure as a teacher.
A behind-the-scenes photo from the film shared by Oscar Isaac, who will be back as Poe Dameron in "Star Wars: Episode 8," teases that Fisher and Hamill will have some screen time together.
Isaac posted the photo to pay tribute to the "Star Wars" icon, who passed away last Dec. 27 after suffering a heart attack during her flight from the United Kingdom to Los Angeles.
"She had no patience for pretense or small talk. She saw through things, at a different angle, with the gritty wisdom that comes from the hardest lessons. And, man, did she make me laugh. Will miss you dearly, Carrie," Isaac wrote in remembering his beloved co-star.
In the big screen, Leia just lost Han Solo (Harrison Ford) at the hands of her own son, Ben, also known as Kylo Ren (Adam Driver). Luke is the only family she has and fans would love to know when they will be reunited in "Star Wars: Episode 8."
It will be interesting to see how it all turns out, but it is sure to be an emotional one, especially with Fisher's death in mind.
Before she met her maker, the actress was able to film all her scenes as Leia for "Star Wars: Episode 8." She was slated to appear in the third new film, "Star Wars: Episode 9," but instead, her death will be addressed there instead.
It is unclear as to how they will do so especially with reports that Leia was supposed to have a bigger role in the upcoming movies.
"Star Wars: Episode 8" will hit the theaters on Dec. 15, 2017.
