Carrie Fisher may have passed away at the age of 60, but her legacy will live on as Leia Organa continues her journey in a galaxy far, far away.

Her death may have put some of her projects in a bind, but Variety has reported that Fisher had already finished filming her "Star Wars: Episode VIII" scenes.

Collider's Matt Goldberg has noted that she may be done with her scenes, but it's still not clear if she's done re-recording her dialogue for the film, and there may be reshoots as well. While these may seem problematic, Goldberg said Disney will do whatever it takes to help director Rian Johnson "realize his vision" for the film.

Deadline has reported that Leia will have a larger role in "Episode VIII." Fisher's daughter, Billie Lourd, will also be in the film. She had a small role as Lieutenant Connix in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."

The cast and crew can handle Fisher's absence in "Episode VIII," but what about "Star Wars: Episode IX"? Reports say Leia was supposed to be in that film as well. The third installment of the "Star Wars" sequel trilogy won't start filming until 2018, so they won't have to deal with this for some time.

Meanwhile, people who have worked with Fisher for so long were deeply saddened by the news of her passing.

"Carrie and I have been friends most of our adult lives. My heart and prayers are with Billie, Debbie and all Carrie's family, friends and fans. She will be missed by all," "Star Wars" creator George Lucas said in a statement (via the official Star Wars website).

"It's never easy to lose such a vital, irreplaceable member of the family, but this is downright heartbreaking. Carrie was one-of-a-kind who belonged to us all — whether she liked it or not," Mark Hamill stated.

"I am grateful for the laughter, the wisdom, the kindness, and even the bratty, self-indulgent crap my beloved space-twin gave me through the years. Thanks, Carrie. I love you," he added.

"Star Wars: Episode VIII" is scheduled to premiere on Dec. 15, 2017.
