'Star Wars: Episode 8' spoilers: 'First look' coming 'soon'; Princess Leia's future under discussion
The year has just begun but it looks like it will not be long before fans get their first look at the highly-anticipated sequel, "Star Wars: Episode 8."
Pop Culture Quest, the show done by "Star Wars" icon Mark Hamill for Comic-Con HQ, teased that it will be giving its first look of the movie "soon." No more information about this reveal was provided.
It is unclear as to in what way, shape or form this first look for "Star Wars: Episode 8" will come in. Many hope that Pop Culture Quest will come out with a trailer.
However, if "soon" in Pop Culture Quest's tease means "in next to no time," it is unlikely that this first look will come in the form of a full-on trailer.
Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said that they will give "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" some "breathing room" first. "Probably heading into spring you'll start to see things," she said weeks back.
"Star Wars Episode 8" is one of the most anticipated films of the year. It is made more special due to the recent passing of Carrie Fisher, whom fans will see in the movie as her iconic character, General Leia.
There have been a lot of talks as to how her unexpected death will be handled in the third movie, which is "Star Wars: Episode 9," where she was supposed to have a more expanded role.
It was reported that Leia is involved in a couple of crucial scenes in "Star Wars: Episode 8," and one even bleeds into "Star Wars: Episode 9."
But the so-called Lucasfilm brain trust is looking to remove it, which has many fans revolting as they would want to see as much Leia as possible in the upcoming movies.
The scenes in question include her reunion with her brother Luke (Hamill) and her confrontation with her son, Ben, also known as Kylo Ren (Adam Driver).
At the moment, it is unclear as to how it will be handled. For now, "Star Wars: Episode 8," releasing Dec. 15, stands as Fisher's final "Star Wars" film.
