There is a boatload of theories and speculations with regards to "Star Wars Episode 8." The latest one involves General Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher).

The filming for the "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is already complete, but just recently, it was announced that Fisher's appearance at the New York Comic-Con will be strictly for a day only.

Her appearance there was shortened "due to Star Wars production," as the official social media accounts of New York Comic Con announced.

This had many thinking that Fisher's character might be more involved in "Star Wars Episode 8" than she was in the previous film.

According to speculations, Leia will be embroiled into political issues in "Star Wars Episode 8." The character of Laura Dern to be introduced in the film will have something to do with it.

Dern will play the role of a Resistance officer who won't be too happy about how Leia leads the team. Her character gets the chance to take over for Leia when the general was injured in a battle.

Under her leadership, Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) eventually gets the chance to become a leader of a mutiny, taking on a bigger role in the Resistance.

According to iDigital Times, "Star Wars Episode 8" will see Leia deal with political fallouts. However, if another report is to be believed, her inner Jedi might be awakened too.

It is also rumored that at one point in the film, Leia will be injured. She will reportedly survive because she used the Force.

There's no confirmation about this yet, but considering Leia's storylines in "Star Wars" films shied away from exploring her Force abilities, this makes for an interesting take on the character.

In other related news, Lupita Nyong'o has confirmed that she already shot her motion capture scenes as Maz Kanata, which puts to rest rumors that she won't be part of "Star Wars Episode 8."

"I don't know where this rumor came from!" I have no idea. It hurt my feelings," she admitted to Ellen DeGeneres during her appearance on "The Ellen Show."

"I shot my scenes, it's coming out--you never really know, when you shoot your scenes in a movie, which ones are gonna make it and all that. So, it's always, 'Fingers crossed!' But as far as I know, I'm in it," she added.

"Star Wars Episode 8" hits the cinemas Dec. 15, 2017.
