'Star Wars Episode VIII' release date and news: Finn sports an updated version of the 'bacta tank' in 'Empire Strikes Back'
At the end of J.J. Abrams' "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," Finn (John Boyega) was left injured after his lightsaber fight with Kylo Ren (Adam Driver). Reports say that he will be wearing a temporary bacta suit which will heal him in Rian Johnson's "Star Wars Episode VIII."
In a report by Nerdist, it's said that Finn will be wearing the bubble-like suit in order to heal his injuries quicker. What's more is that he is said to be "in better condition than ever before" once he takes of the suit. This leads some to speculate that it could turn out to be some kind of "super-soldier serum," and the reason why Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) survived the crashing of the TIE Fighter at the beginning of a movie was because he has already been modified by a bacta suit before.
Back in "Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back," Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) was put inside a bacta tank after he was recovered by Han Solo (Harrison Ford) in the snow. Luke sustained serious injuries after being attacked by a Wampa, but the bacta tank made him good as new.
No doubt the bacta technology has been improved, and now it can be a mobile suit.
Meanwhile, rumors are going around that Luke Skywalker will be sporting a different costume in "Episode VIII" compared to the one he wore at the end of "Force Awakens." It's described to be the same as that of his garb in "Return of the Jedi," and he will be wearing it during Rey's (Daisy Ridley) training. He's also rumored not to have a lightsaber.
It was also teased that he will have a fight scene with the Knights of Ren, but since the lightsaber is said to be missing, it's a mystery how Luke will be able to take them on.
"Star Wars Episode VIII" is set to come out on Dec. 15, 2017.
