'Star Wars Rebels' season 3, episode 14 spoilers: Zeb and Chopper run into an Imperial spy droid

"Star Wars Rebels" season 3, episode 14 promo still | Lucasfilm Ltd.

Following the double-episode winter premiere in which "Star Wars Rebels" brought a closer look at Saw Gerrera before fans saw him on the outskirts of Jedha in "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," the show is bringing the spotlight back to one of the Ghost Crew's own — Zeb.

The upcoming episode of the "Star Wars" lore's animated prequel will see the Lasat rebel and the clunky droid set on an adventure of their own in which they bump into a damaged droid in the Atollon region. As they try to bring him back into the Rebellion's base, Zeb notices some details about it that leave him uneasy. Spoilers suggest that the robot will turn out to have been programmed and intended to be planted in the alliance to gather intel for the Empire.

Fortunately, it seems like Zeb would be able to follow his guts and bust the droid before it could wreak havoc in the entire Alliance. But him and Chopper need to work hard against it as it starts to attack them as seen in the official promo clip for the installment titled "Warhead."

Fun tidbit, the highly featured droid was the fleshing out of original "Star Wars" concept artist Ralph McQuarrie first draft of C3PO's design. Given that Zeb is also the first draft of Chewbacca's look, it is interesting to see the two of them interact with each other.

Meanwhile, for those asking if Saw will be seen in future episodes of "Star Wars Rebels," Lucasfilm Ltd. president Kathleen Kennedy has previously revealed that they plan to explore the character more; however, she did not specify where the "original Rebel" can eventually pop out.

"With Saw Gerrera, we just became very intrigued with him as a character [from The Clone Wars] and how he fits inside this story," the movie producer extraordinaire told Empire. "To be honest, we originally thought we were going to develop Saw into something much larger, but we couldn't accommodate it. So he is not in the movie as much as we would like to have him in the movie, which creates the opportunity to explore his character even further in our future development," she added.

"Star Wars Rebels" season 3 airs every Saturday, 8:30 p.m. ET on Disney XD.
