'Star Wars Rebels' season 3 release date, news and updates: New sneak peek shows ruthlessness of Thrawn
Though the third season of "Star Wars Rebels" introduced Grand Admiral Thrawn as its main antagonist, he really hasn't done much as a villain, save for a few moments here and there. A sneak peek has been released for the next episode, "The Inside Job," and it teases that the rebels will probably be facing the full wrath of Thrawn.
In the clip, Thrawn forces a worker to test a speeder bike at full speed, only to have it overheat. By the looks of it, the worker seems to be working with the rebels. Kanan and Ezra are also disguised as workers in the scene, and they seem to be familiar with the man.
It's possible that Thrawn already suspected the worker of defecting to the rebellion. It is also revealed that the worker Thrawn picked out is a farmer who lost his land and was forced to work for the Empire. Maybe Thrawn knew that the speeder bike has problems, and it served as a trap. Fans have seen Thrawn calculating and calm in previous episodes, but they have yet to see him cruel.
So far, fans have commented on Thrawn's portrayal in the show, and they think that he has yet to prove just how much of a threat he really is. Most of the episodes usually consist of him finding the rebels and letting them get away on purpose.
A fan in the comments section of the reaction video even expressed skepticism, saying, "[Thrawn's] just gonna appear in that scene, Ezra and Kanan will save Ryder then Thrawn will be like, 'Wait. They left some art' and that'll be the episode."
Will Thrawn finally unleash his full potential in the next episode?
"Star Wars Rebels" season three's next episode is titled, "An Inside Man" and it airs on Saturday, Dec. 3, at 8:30 p.m. EST on Disney XD.
