'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' premiere date, cast, plot news: Carrie Fisher's appearance will not be altered even after her death
Even though the original Princess Leia, Carrie Fisher, has passed away, her appearances in the film will not be altered. Meanwhile, the upcoming eighth "Star Wars" film might revisit three planets from the previous films.
Directed by Rian Johnson, "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" will premiere in December this year, continuing the story of Rey (Daisy Ridley) and her adventures with Finn (John Boyega), Poe (Oscar Isaac), and Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) in new parts of the galaxy.
Fisher, who died recently in December 2016, is also set to appear in the film as Princess Leia. According to Disney CEO Bob Iger, no changes will be made in the film to deal with the loss of Fisher.
"She appears throughout 'VIII.' And what I can say about that is, we're not changing 'VIII' to deal with her passing. So her performance, which we're really pleased with, remains as it was in 'VIII,'" Iger explained to Entertainment Weekly.
Meanwhile, "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" is anticipated to revisit a trio of planets featured in the previous films of the franchise.
According to Star Wars News Net, the three planets that can possibly be revisited by the eighth "Star Wars" film are Tatooine, Endor, and Mustafar.
These planets are speculated to appear in the film because of their connections to Luke Skywalker and Kylo Ren's (Adam Driver) journey towards discovering Darth Vader.
Luke Skywalker's Jedi Temple is suspected to be located in Tatooine, while Endor will be the one to tie Kylo to his grandfather, where he will search for artifacts that will connect him to Darth Vader and the Sith. On the other hand, Mustafar is where Darth Vader's castle is built, which is suspected to be revisited years after the dark lord has died.
"Star Wars: The Last Jedi" is slated to premiere on Dec. 15.
