'Steven Universe' spoilers update: Will Steven succeed in helping "barn mates" Peridot and Lapis settle their differences?

There is tension between Peridot and Lapis Lazuli and Steven is sought by an upset Peridot to help her resolve their conflict. Steven's suggestion was simple and straightforward, and that is for Peridot, who is now growing more frustrated, to show her "sweet side" to Lapis who proves to be so stubborn about their disagreement refusing to believe that they can still be friends.

In a released video of the "Steven Universe" season 3, episode 4 titled "Barn Mates," Peridot remains hopeful and enthusiastic in spite of Lapis consistently opposing every suggestion she and Steven make about making things work for them. Steven even went to the extent of literally drawing a demarcation line on the flooring of their house to signal the divide between the personal space of each of the two.

With the intentions of vouching for Steven's solution, Peridot emphasizes that Lapis' side of the barn is better than hers because the latter has the "good stuff" on her side.

Nevertheless, Lapis still cannot come to terms with what transpired in the past, reminding Peridot of how she used Lapis that got her stuck on Earth. Peridot apologizes and insists that she has already changed since that time. Not willing to listen to her anymore, Lapis walked away from Peridot and Steven, but not before explaining that nothing is going to work for her and Peridot but that it is not Steven's fault so he does not have to worry.

Steven, feeling sorry for and concerned about Peridot, goes on thinking of other resolves and moves they can make that might appease Lapis and eventually change her judgment of Peridot.

Since one failed attempt after another to make peace with Lapis, Peridot's optimism dwindles and already doubts that they can still iron out the mess between her and Lapis. As per Steven's idea of her appealing to emotions in order to win Lapis' friendship, it is up to Peridot if she will stay skeptical about trying again or if she will decide to just go for every opportunity to become friends with Lapis.
