The second season of "Stranger Things" is slowly taking shape and this time, a new male character has been confirmed to join Netflix's summer hit.

Actor-comedian Brett Gelman has been recently tapped to recur on the streaming giant's 1980s-set sci-fi drama. According to reports, Gelman will play the role of Murray Bauman, a journalist who became a conspiracy theorist. He enters the picture to look into a cold case in Hawkins.

Gelman, who is also a writer and producer, has appeared in various movies in the recent years including "Jobs," "30 Minutes or Less," and "The Other Guys." Aside from his upcoming film projects, he will next be seen in the 2017 TV revival of "Twin Peaks." The actor joins the lineup of previously announced newcomers including Sean Astin, Paul Reiser, Linnea Berthelsen, Sadie Sink and Dacre Montgomery.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, executive producer Shawn Levy hinted that many new and interesting characters are heading to the show. "There's definitely a handful of really compelling new characters this season, but absolutely servicing the core group first and foremost," Levy said."Like the show itself, it's multigenerational new characters and really, really intriguing ones."

On another note, two of the "Stranger Things" kids recently graced the cover of the Winter issue of Dazed.  Thirteen-year-old Finn Wolfhard (Mike) and 12-year-old Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven) scored covers of the British magazine's winter 2016 issue which were shot by photographer Collier Schorr.

Speaking with the media outlet, Wolfhard said they are still normal tweens despite their quick rise to fame. Although he greatly appreciates the support from fans, the young actor gave a suggestion on how they could channel their obsession with him into something more productive. "It's awesome that you're showing support, but I'd love you to do something more creative. If you really love me, write a song about me!" he said.

The 9-episode second season of "Stranger Things" is expected to premiere mid-July 2017 on Netflix.
