'Stranger Things' season 2 cast plot and rumors: Eleven is Jim Hopper's daughter?
Netflix's original sci-fi series "Stranger Things" is increasingly creating a retro-obsession among TV series buffs and fans. Although season 2 is yet to start airing, there is already a steady build-up of anticipation among fans who wonder about Eleven's fate (Millie Bobby Brown) and her possible connection to Chief Jim Hopper (David Harbour).
"Stranger Things" season 2 will reportedly focus on Hopper and Eleven. A number of theories making rounds online point to the pair's relationship as father and daughter. Interestingly, the season 1 finale seemed to have suggested this possibility.
It can be recalled that Hopper left some food in the woods including Eleven's favorite– Eggos. The general presumption is that the Chief might have intentionally left it for her. But this even raises more questions than answers. He wasn't around when Eleven shoplifted the waffles from the store. But how could he knew? So far, the first season hasn't provided any explanation so it's up to the viewers to come up with their own conclusions.
Another source of a possible connection was a throwback scene of featuring Hopper's daughter, Sarah (Elle Graham). She's about the same age as Eleven but died of cancer. However, others argue that there is no physical evidence suggesting Sarah's death, per Bustle report. This implies that she could still be alive. She might even be Eleven. A bald-headed Eleven may even be Sarah after the chemotherapy.
Another interesting theory is that Eleven may have also been Sarah's manifestation in an alternative timeline. So far, it remains to be seen whether these theories could come out true in the next season.
Meanwhile, the Duffer Brothers–the creative brains behind the retro-themed Netflix series– revealed how they wanted the series to create a cult following similar to a "Harry Potter" situation.
"The dream is a Harry Potter situation. I love watching kids growing up on camera. So the idea seeing where these kids and these characters are one year later is cool to me. And it allows us to explore the mythology of our nether," said Matt Duffer as quoted in an interview by Entertainment Weekly.
"Stranger Things" became a tremendous hit following its original release in July. So far, Netflix is yet to officially announce a follow-up series.
