"Stranger Things" caused quite a stir and hullabaloo when it kicked off July 15 on Netflix. Now fans are expecting there would be more after the eighth chapter, "The Upside Down," left things hanging with Eleven's (Millie Bobby Brown) missing-in-action status. Now the Duffer brothers, Matt and Ross, the show creators and directors, revealed that a second installment is possible but will be treated as a sequel to the first outing.

The story dealt with young boy, Will Byers (Noah Schnapp), who vanished under odd circumstances. Matt Duffer told IGN that they wanted to "resolve" the matter of Byers' disappearance by the end of the first season. However, even though the boy was found at the close of "Stranger Things," a lot of questions were left unanswered.

There was this matter of another member of the troupe of kids, Eleven, who disappeared as she grappled with a monster trying to save the other kids. Her selfless act has given her the status of a hero in the eyes of viewers. Hooked fans want to know what happened to her and whether she will be back in "Stranger Things 2."

With season 2 not yet confirmed by Netflix, Matt had something to say, "If we do get to go back, it's not a second season as much as a sequel."

If and when Netflix announces a season 2 for "Stranger Things," the next run would be treated as a sequel to the Winona Ryder-starrer show. Ryder portrays the character of Joyce Byers, the mother of 12-year-old Will.

Joyce, who lived in an insignificant Indiana town with her boy, had become terrified at the puzzling disappearance of her son and enjoined the local force to look into the case.

As they delved more deeply into the puzzle, they uncovered one secret after another of government activities and experimentation. They also faced frightening supernatural powers and met with a very rare little girl who turned out to be the answer.

Fans remain optimistic that the welcome reception the show received will somehow usher in "Stranger Things" season 2 sometime in June or July of next year.
