'Street Fighter 5' News, Release Date: Upcoming Game Called 'Ultimate Version in Series'
"Street Fighter 5," the latest instalment in the gaming franchise, is set for release before April 2016 on the PS4 and PC. Capcom made the announcement in its recently published earnings report. It added that the release of the game would fall into the current fiscal year.
Capcom also announced that "Ultra Street Fighter 4" continued to enjoy solid sale.
A steady stream of information about "Street Fighter 5" has been making its way to online gaming portals.
Last month game designer Yoshinori Ono proudly stated that "Street Fighter 5" would be the ultimate version in the series and would showcase all that the franchise had to offer.
In an interview with Edge Magazine, Ono said "Street Fighter 5" would surprise people with what it had to offer. He said the game designers had an opportunity to broaden the scope of the game and offer something fresh which, he said, would surpass even "Street Fighter IV."
Ono said Capcom aims to "grow the passion" for the Street Fighter franchise by attracting a new crop of players after "Street Fighter IV" had revived interest among fans of the fighting series.
In its earnings report, Capcom expressed optimism in the sale of its games, adding that it expects "Street Fighter 5" to sell over 2 million copies when it is releases.
The company first announced the game as a PS4 and PC exclusive in December last year. Since then, it has hinted at a huge beta program for the game.
