'Street Fighter 5' news: seven characters set to cross over to 'Shadowverse' this spring

Seven characters from "Street Fighter 5" are heading to Cygames' free-to-download card game "Shadowverse."

Released by on mobile devices last June, "Shadowverse" is a fast-paced strategy card game similar to Blizzard's "Hearthstone." Since its launch, the game received glowing Steam reviews from fans and now has a PC version debuted in October. In an effort to take the card game to the next level, Cygames has partnered up with Capcom to introduce new characters from "Street Fighter 5." The fighters, along with their specific in-game character classes, who are joining the card strategy game this spring are: M. Bison (Shadowcraft), Chun Li (Swordcraft), Vega (Bloodcraft), Cammy (Forestcraft), Karin (Havencraft), Juri (Runecraft), and Ryu (Dragoncraft)

"Please note that although 'Shadowverse' is free to download and play, the 'Street Fighter V' related content may require additional in-game purchases, and the final details of the collaboration may be subject to change," a press statement from Capcom and Cygames reads. For more updates, fans are encouraged to keep their eye on the official "Shadowverse" website.

In other related news, Capcom announced last week that another challenger is coming to "Street Fighter 5." Kolin, who first appeared in "Street Fighter 3" as a non-playable character, is set to be part of "Street Fighter 5" as downloadable content. The icy, rekka-style fighter joins the roster of challengers starting Feb. 28.

An expert in the Russian martial art Systema, Kolin has the ability to use her enemy's momentum to her advantage. First introduced as a servant of antagonist Gill, she is also skilled in executing knife hand strikes and slash-like attacks.

The character can be accessed through the game's Season 2 Character Pass which can be purchased for $29.99. Kolin is the second character to be made available via the said pass, following Akuna who arrived in December. Four more fighters are coming to the Season 2 Character Pass in the future, along with additional character colors and premium battle outfits.
