"Street Fighter 5" players better think twice before disconnecting during a match because rage-quitters will soon be named and shamed in the game's upcoming update.

Capcom has yet to officially reveal details about the next update, but observant fans managed to mine the newest version to get some valuable information. A NeoGAF user named Moradin unveiled screenshots of a new test branch for the "Street Fighter 5" PC version that briefly went up on Steam. Before the company could pull it back, fans were quick to plunder it for information, and they successfully made some interesting discoveries.

As seen in the leaked screenshots, the upcoming update will introduce punishments for rage-quitting players, particularly by means of a profile badge and other restrictions as well. The photos clearly show that once players quit from a match, they will receive a death's head icon on their profile. Players who never rage-quit, on the other hand, are given due recognition through a shield icon on their profile. Aside from the badges, rage-quitters will also have certain restrictions if they keep disconnecting from matches.

"Penalties will be incurred for disconnecting during a match, including LP (League Points) reduction, and temporary matchmaking restrictions," the tutorial tooltip notes. "Also, special icons will be displayed on the Fighter Profiles of players who frequently disconnect, as well as those who never do, making it easier for players with the same icon to battle against each other," the update's notes says.

According to reports, rage-quitting has been a huge issue in the game since it first came out in February. The flagship fighting title debuted without any way of penalizing sore losers who immediately quit a match once they realize that they don't have a chance of winning. The developers made efforts to fix the problem by releasing updates in April and then in August that scaled up the reputational punishments for players who have poor sportsmanship.
