Capcom shows its appreciation to the fans of the popular fighting video game "Street Fighter V" with a wonderful announcement for this Christmas.

The "Street Fighter" villain Akuma will be released by Capcom as a playable character for "Street Fighter V" later this December, marking the beginning of the popular fighting game's second season of downloadable add-on fighters.

As announced at the PlayStation Experience last weekend, Akuma will arrive on the "Street Fighter V" video game on Dec. 20. Its launch will be in sync with the release of the game's Holiday Content, B-Boy Ryu, and B-Girl Chun-Li. Akuma's Story, Premium Battle and Nostalgia costumes will also be available once the character is released on the same date.

According to Capcom, Akuma has been a staple of the "Street Fighter" series ever since his secret appearance in "Super Street Fighter II Turbo." He is a savage yet well-trained Ansatsuken master consumed by the Satsui no Hado. Akuma is somewhat a counterpart of Ryu, representing the danger he faces if he is unable to control the Satsui no Hado inside him.

With his return to "Street Fighter V," Akuma will be displaying his mastery of Ansatsuken, as well as his quick footwork and devastating combos. He has a variety of destructive tools and is very capable of outlasting his enemies with his oppressive pressure. His moves and stances are designed to be poses reminiscent of Ukiyo-e paintings and Buddhist statues.

The 2017 Character Pass will be released for the "Street Fighter V" on Dec. 20 for $29.99. Akuma will be the first of six additional characters to be included in that pass. It will also feature premium battle costumes, with three to ten colors unlocked, and the default costume colors for each character. Holders of the 2017 Character pass will also receive an exclusive PS4 theme.

It can be recalled that during last year's PlayStation's Experience, six downloadable characters were announced for the game's season 1 DLC. These characters were Guile, Juri, Alex, Urien, Balrog, and Ibuki.
