'Super Mario Run' release date news and rumors: Game to come to iOS next month?
No game franchise screams Nintendo like Mario does, and the next game in the series is called "Super Mario Run." Reports are saying that the game will be available for Android and iOS.
There have been rumors floating around that the game will also be available for the Nintendo Switch, but a lot of fans weren't expecting the game to be available as a mobile app. It's said that "Super Mario Run" will be available for iOS next month while Android users have to wait for it to release next year.
In an interview with BBC Tech, Nintendo President Tastumi Kimishima says that the game will have a free demo for anyone interested, but gamers will have to purchase the full version in order to get deeper into "Super Mario Run." Game designer Shigeru Miyamoto also adds that the game will not come with any micro-transactions; nevertheless, some still want to wait till for the game to come out to see if that statement is true.
The game is also confirmed to be available for the Nintendo 3DS, but it will not have the amiibo costumes and mystery mushrooms featured in the Nintendo Wii version of the game. The 3DS version is also said to be lacking in all the games' levels.
This could be disheartening to some loyal 3DS users, but Kimishima also says that he plans to move forward with the device instead of having it overshadowed by the Nintendo Switch.
He says, "Thanks to our software, the 3DS hardware is still growing. So that business still has momentum. And certainly rather than being cannibalized by the Switch, we think the 3DS can continue in its own form."
