'Super Mario Run' release date news 2016: Apple Stores offer demo version for upcoming game
"Super Mario Run" will be released in a few days, but Mario fans can try their hands at a demo version of the game on iOS.
According to Forbes, a demo version of the auto-runner game "Super Mario Run" has been made available for who would want to get a feel for it ahead of its release. The iOS exclusive game's World Tour mode can be played on devices inside an Apple Store until the actual game officially launches later this week. The World Tour is just one of reported three modes available in the game.
The World Tour itself offers three levels of difficulty: basic, introductory, and underground. Playing "Super Mario Run" is somewhat akin to playing the traditional game in that it requires the player to hold down the "run" button the entire time while moving left to right, kicking walls and bouncing off of koopas and goombas to collect coins and reach higher levels.
However, it has also been confirmed by the series creator and game producer, Shigeru Miyamoto, via an interview with Mashable, that playing the game will require an internet connection. The team behind the upcoming game wanted to make sure that all three modes offered in the game will be functioning together in a way that will keep the software secure, thus the need for a network connection.
"This is something that we want to continue to work on as we continue to develop the game," Miyamoto added.
Representatives from Nintendo also elaborated on this via CNET by saying that online connectivity will allow them to offer various new features and services to constantly enhance the gaming experience. They would like to ensure that "Super Mario Run" will not end up being a static game, but will instead be something that keeps evolving and offering more reasons for players to return to it for a long time.
"Super Mario Run" will be available on Thursday, Dec. 15, for Apple iOS devices.
