'Supergirl' season 2 episode 9 spoilers: Kara and Mon-El deal with aftermath of kiss; Alex and Maggie experience bumps in relationship
Season 2 of "Supergirl" is currently on hiatus but spoilers for the midseason premiere and the rest of the season have already been revealed. According to reports, viewers will see developments in some of the budding relationships in the show. Villains, old and new, will also appear.
It can be recalled that in the winter finale of "Supergirl" season 2, Cadmus unleashed Project Medusa, a virus that would kill aliens. Thankfully, Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath) was able to stop it from spreading by pretending to side with her adoptive mother, Lillian (Brenda Strong). Mon-El (Chris Wood), believing that he would die, kissed Kara (Melissa Benoist). Elsewhere, Maggie (Floriana Lima) also shared a kiss with Alex (Chyler Leigh) after she realized her feelings for the latter.
According to executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, viewers haven't seen the last of Lillian and Cadmus. The next few episodes will show how Lillian deals with incarceration. A new leader for Cadmus might also make more trouble in National City moving forward.
Meanwhile, Kara and Mon-El will be dealing with the aftermath of their kiss.
"The next episode is a big Kara/Mon-El story that we're really excited about. They're both obviously playing coy about what happened, neither admitting that they actually did kiss, so how that comes out is going to be fun and delicious," Kreisberg told Entertainment Weekly.
As for Alex and Maggie's relationship, Kreisberg said that because their midseason finale also served as their holiday episode, they wanted to end on a good note by featuring the new couple kiss. However, they will be experiencing some bumps in their blossoming relationship when the show returns.
"Alex has never been in this kind of relationship before and she's going to make some rookie mistakes that they'll have to get past," Kreisberg said in a separate interview with the media outlet. "Alex is going to learn that Maggie isn't perfect, which is going to lead to some difficult situations coming down the road," he added.
In other related news, The CW also confirmed to Comicbook.com that "Superman" villain Mr. Mxyzptlk will be causing trouble in the second half of the season. The fifth-dimensional imp is slated to appear in two episodes.
"Supergirl" airs Mondays at 8 p.m. EST on The CW. Season 2 is expected to resume sometime in January 2017.
