'Supergirl' season 2 spoilers, plot news: Cast dishes on upcoming season at San Diego Comic-Con; Kara and Clark to butt heads?

The cast of "Supergirl," including Melissa Benoist (Kara Zor-El/Supergirl), Mehcad Brooks (Jimmy Olsen), Tyler Hoechlin (Clark Kent/Superman), Chyler Leigh (Kara's sister Alex), David Harewood (Hank, a.k.a. Martian Manhunter), and Jeremy Jordan (Winn), gamely answered questions regarding the upcoming season during the San Diego Comic-Con. A few major details about season 2 were revealed, much to the fans' delight.

It was revealed at the SDCC that production hasn't yet started for the series, which explained why the crew wasn't able to show any footage. The executive producers also revealed why they waited until the second season to introduce Kara's cousin, Superman, to the series.

According to Screen Crush, the maiden season's focus was to flesh out Kara and introduce her as Supergirl. The second season, on the other hand, would point the spotlight to Kara Zor-El's biological and adoptive family.

Another reveal was the content of the pod shown at the end of "Supergirl" season 1. Apparently, Christopher Wood's yet-to-be-announced character is the one in the pod. There are speculations that Mon-El/Lar Grand would be introduced in "Supergirl" season 2, and fans are speculating that Wood would be playing the said character. However, that is something the upcoming season would shed light on.

Asked about his new role, Hoechlin, who played alpha male Derek Hale on MTV's "Teen Wolf," said, "Definitely incredibly surreal. I know the character represents so much to so many people."

Schechter intimated that Clark and Kara would have a tense moment between them especially with regards to being superheroes on earth.

"Clark has a very different experience of what it means to have superpowers on earth," she said, as reported by Entertainment Weekly. "There's some head-butting and philosophical approaches that are different. We'll get into that."

Incidentally, The CW will begin airing all 20 episodes of season 1 beginning Aug. 1, with two episodes shown each Monday.
