'Supernatural' season 12 episode 8 spoilers: Lucifer aims for presidency in explosive midseason finale
Contrary to what he claimed in the previous episode, it looks like Lucifer now has a plan. The brief taste of power he got from having rock god, Vince Vincente (Rick Springfield) as a vessel has re-ignited a thirst in him so strong that it takes him all the way to the White House in the next episode of "Supernatural."
Now that he's worn out Vince's body, Lucifer is once again on the haunt for the perfect vessel. He eyes to take over the President of the United States himself (David Chisum) for his plans of world domination. Just what does the President want so bad that it leads him to unknowingly strike a deal with the devil? Is he just as power-hungry as the prince of darkness, or will Lucifer offer a more personal bargain to the man who can help him take over the world?
Titled "Lotus," the episode will also feature Sam (Jared Padalecki), Dean (Jensen Ackles), Castiel (Misha Collins), Crowley (Mark A. Sheppard) and Rowena (Ruth Connell) banding together once again to save the world. However, since Lucifer is a more merciless opponent than their previous adversary, Amara (Emily Swallow), how will the ragtag defenders of the world fare this time around?
The title of the episode seems like a play on the acronym POTUS, which stands for the President of the United States. Does the title "Lotus," or Lucifer of the United States, hint at a not-so favorable conclusion to the upcoming midseason finale? As Crowley puts it, the Dark Lord is "moving on to blue chips" and will thus be more determined to succeed in his cause. Will the Winchesters' crew figure out Lucifer's end game, where he's going and whom he wants to be next before it is too late?
It sure is promising to be an exciting midseason finale, and both sides seem to be gearing up to pull out the big guns, as teased by the episode preview. Will they all make it out alive? Will the Winchesters have to make a choice between killing the President or letting the whole world burn? And with Rowena around, will Lucifer finally get the permanent vessel he has longed for?
"Supernatural" season 12 episode 8 will air on Thursday, Dec. 8, at 9 p.m. EST on The CW.
