'Supernatural' season 12 spoilers: EP teases a trio of Castiel-centric episodes
Those who have been waiting for Castiel (Misha Collins) to shine in "Supernatural" season 12 will be in for a sweet treat when the drama returns to the small screen next year.
Everyone's favorite angel will take center stage in the latter half of the season. Executive producer Andrew Dabb reiterated this in an interview with TVLine.
"We have at least three really strong Castiel episodes coming up," he revealed. The first Castiel-centric episode will air on Feb. 2, and will share "a lost chapter of Castiel's history."
"The following hour is also extremely Cas-heavy in a different way," Dabb went on to tease about the second "Supernatural" season 12 that will focus on Castiel.
The EP played coy on the details of the third episode that spotlights Castiel, which will be episode 19. "That's extremely Cas-heavy in an even different way," he teased.
Dabb admits that it was a bit challenging to be able to still put the focus on Castiel with all the new characters coming and going in the first half of "Supernatural" season 12 such as Mary (Samantha Smith) and the British Men of Letters.
Add to that is keeping Crowley (Mark Sheppard) in the picture. Castiel and Crowley had to "get a little bit of a short shrift as we establish these new characters and put them on the board."
This will no longer be a problem in the second half of "Supernatural" season 12. "We have a lot more room to play. Those characters are going to come to the fore a lot more," Dabb promised.
It will be interesting to learn more about Castiel and the idea that there is still a ton to discover about the character even though the show has been around for more than a decade will definitely make his fans happy.
"Supernatural" season 12 will return on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
