'Supernatural' season 12 release date, plot spoilers: Misha Collins confirms badass Castiel's return; Comic-Con appearance confirmed
Now that creator Eric Kripke has confirmed that there will be "Supernatural" for as long as Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles agree to be in the series, fans are wondering what the upcoming 12th installment has in store for them.
For one, Ackles has said that Sam and Dean Winchester's (played by Padalecki and Ackles respectively) mother, Mary Winchester (Samantha Smith), will be back from the dead in season 12. Fans would do well to anticipate how the dynamics between Sam and Dean would change with their mother's return, considering she has been dead for 32 years.
The upcoming season would also answer the season 11 cliffhanger concerning Sam's state after one of the members of the new Men of Letters chapter shot him.
According to Game n Guide, filming or "Supernatural" season 12 has begun. It was Padalecki himself who took to Twitter to announce that bit, and he also confirmed the inclusion of the show, along with its cast members and crew, in the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con. More details about the upcoming season are expected to come out during the show's panel at SDCC.
Meanwhile, Misha Collins, who plays fan favorite Castiel in the show, has told Nerdist that season 12 will be a reflection of the series' early beginnings, as it is expected to get "back to the show's roots." Apparently, the upcoming installment would feel a lot like the earlier seasons of "Supernatural," so fans could expect that Castiel would be more like the Castiel from the beginning.
"Cas has got his mojo back," he told the publication. "Finally. I'm so excited about that. I'm excited to see it unfold. I have a feeling that the fans won't be disappointed."
Fans could expect a longer run for "Supernatural" since Kripke said that as long as everyone is having fun, most especially lead stars Padalecki and Ackles, anything is possible for the show.
"Supernatural" season 12 will premiere on Oct. 13 at 9 p.m. on The CW.
