'Supernatural' season 12 spoilers, plot news: Dean to rescue Sam a la 'Taken'? Upcoming season to witness 'angry and powerful' Castiel?
The first episode of "Supernatural" season 12 would apparently pay homage to one of Hollywood's finest films, Liam Neeson's "Taken."
It would be recalled that in the season 11 finale, one of the members of the British chapter of the Men of Letters, Lady Toni (Elizabeth Blackmore), shot Sam (Jared Padalecki). On the other hand, Dean (Jensen Ackles) defeated The Darkness (Emily Swallow), with Sam all the while thinking his brother has died. That season ender also saw Sam and Dean's mother, Mary Winchester (Samantha Smith), coming back to life after being dead for three decades after The Darkness resurrected her as a gift.
When "Supernatural" season 12 drops in, it would pick up right where the previous season left off, with Dean coming to terms with the fact that his mother is in the world of the living again. Because of this, it would take some time before he figures out what happened to his younger brother. On the flipside, Sam wouldn't expect Dean to come saving him, not after the Men of Letters captured him.
"Dean's got to figure out quickly what has happened, where he is, and then it turns into a bit of 'Taken'," Ackles told TV Line.
In the same interview, executive producer Robert Singer revealed that Dean's rescue mission would not take much of season 12.
"We get that over with [Sam's rescue] pretty quickly — but they're action-packed, and all our characters are involved," he said.
In other news, Misha Collins, who plays badass angel Castiel on the series, granted an interview to Blastr during the San Diego Comic-Con. He gamely shared details about the season 12 arc for Castiel. Viewers would remember that he became Lucifer's vessel in the past season, but he would be back in season 12 just as he was back in season 4.
"We are actually starting off season 12 with Cas kind of angry and kind of determined to fix things. It's kind of badass Cas again, like way back from season 4. And It's fun to play with, I think for a long time Cas has been kind of broken," he said.
"Supernatural" season 12 premieres on Thursday, Oct. 13, at 9 p.m. EST on The CW.
