'Supernatural season 12' teaser, update: Crowley teams up with Castiel to defeat Lucifer
Will the king of hell, Crowley (Mark Sheppard), work together with angel Castiel (Misha Collins) to defeat the fallen angel? Sources say that they will. The show has seen unexpected team-ups in the previous seasons and a Crowly and Castiel match wouldn't be the most bizarre idea.
In the previous season, the Winchester brothers Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) teamed up with God to defeat Amara aka The Darkness (Emily Swallow). To recap, Lucifer took over Castiel's body to defeat Amara. However, it was Dean who actually ended the battle and reunited Amara with God.
The fallen angel, Lucifer, will be portrayed by rock musician Rick Springfield in the upcoming season. Since he is free to roam the Earth, he will eventually spread chaos among mankind.
Hence, Castiel is hoping to seal the fallen angel once again. On the other hand, the king of hell might work with Castiel because he also wants to defeat Lucifer after he was dethroned and humiliated. To regain his title, the former king of hell might just work with an angel.
Collins recently revealed to Entertainment Weekly that the strange duo will be forming an alliance in upcoming season. "Castiel and Crowley have kind of teamed up in season 12 and are working together," Collins told the news outlet. EW also reported that Collins and Sheppard revealed that the pair's relationship will be reminiscent of a "'70s/'80s buddy cop comedy."
Furthermore, another unlikely team-up is expected to happen next season. Dean will be working alongside his mother, Mary (Samantha Smith), to save the younger Winchester brother who was abducted by the British division of the Men of Letters. Mary was supposedly dead, as she was killed by the demon Azazel when the boys were very young. However, Amara revived the matriarch of the Winchester clan in the previous season.
"Supernatural" season 12 will return on The CW on Thursday, Oct. 13 at 9 p.m. EDT.
