Taylor Swift is currently in the middle of the longest break in her career, but it looks like her more than two-year lull from music will soon come to an end.

According to the latest rumors, the "Shake it Off" singer will come out with a follow-up to her mega-successful album, "1989," this year and the wait might not even be that long.

Swift recently came out of her hiatus to collaborate with "Pillowtalk" singer Zayn Malik for "I Don't Wanna Live Forever," a duet to be featured in the upcoming film, "Fifty Shades Darker."

A couple of days later, she greeted Malik on his 24th birthday by posting a still featuring her and the former One Direction singer from what appears to be a music video for the song. This had many excited about its release.

More importantly, this fueled hopes in the hearts of fans who believe that the upcoming music video will mark her official return to the music scene and could be followed by the reveal of a brand-new album.

"I Don't Wanna Live Forever" is believed to be Swift's first step in inching herself back to making music. The fact that she is with a huge music superstar like Malik for this comeback suggests that big things could come for the legions of Swift fans.

The "Bad Blood" singer has been open about taking a break from releasing music. During an interview with Vogue last year, she noted that this is the "the first time in 10 years that I haven't known [what's next]."

Swift has been in the spotlight ever since the release of "1989" as she promoted the album with a world tour, music videos and many appearances. She also entangled herself to issues like the one with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian.

"I just decided that after the past year, with all of the unbelievable things that happened ... I decided I was going to live my life a little bit without the pressure on myself to create something," the star said.
