'Terminator' 5 Release Date: 'Genisys' Hits Theaters July 2015
There's less than a year's wait before the latest installment in the "Terminator" franchise hits the big screen.
Paramount Pictures recently confirmed that "Terminator: Genisys," the fifth film in the science fiction franchise, will be released on July 1, 2015. The studio said the new "Terminator" will mark the start of another trilogy, with sequels planned for 2017 and 2018 release, respectively.
Meanwhile, one of the stars in the upcoming movie revealed what fans can expect from "Terminator: Genisys."
Veteran actor J.K. Simmons told Coming Soon in an interview that there will be a "love story" in the new film.
"It's a really interesting script. They got great actors. I wrapped that in August, so that was another movie that ended up being really satisfying on all levels," said the 59-year-old actor.
"Terminator" follows the story of John Connor, who leads a resistance against Skynet, an artificial intelligent network. Former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger played the original Terminator, a cyborg assassin who was sent back in time to kill Sarah Connor in the first movie.
Schwarzenegger also updated fans of the science fiction franchise, saying that the new film will have more cyborgs and will deal with time travel. The veteran actor left a note on his Instagram account to the viewers who are eagerly waiting for the movie to hit theaters.
"Hasta la vista, baby. I want to thank the cast and crew of @TerminatorGenisys for a fantastic shoot. It was challenging, it was fun, and it was rewarding," the former governor wrote. "From our director to the producers, from the camera team to catering, from visual effects to hair and makeup - we couldn't have done it without you. I can't wait to see our finished project and I know we'll remind the fans why they fell in love with the Terminator. On July 1, 2015, I'll be back."
