The comedy series is getting renewed for the 11th season. Meanwhile, Sheldon (Jim Parsons) might not be part of the quirky gang when the new season starts.

"The Big Bang Theory" is currently in its 10th season, and it is following the coupled lives of Sheldon and Amy (Mayim Bialik), Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Penny (Kaley Cuoco), Howard (Simon Helberg) and Bernadette (Melissa Rauch), along with best pals Raj (Kunal Nayyar) and Stuart (Kevin Sussman).

The show is already nearing the end of its 10th season, which has created a lot of buzz about it being renewed or canceled. There were several rumors pointing out that the show will no longer be picked up because of the main casts refusing to sign another contract with the show without a raise.

But according to Movie Pilot, "The Big Bang Theory" has been confirmed for season 11, and it is anticipated to debut in September of next year.

Aside from getting a raise, Cuoco wanted to have time off to focus on having a baby. But the star has reportedly signed on for the show's 11th season, along with Galecki, who plays her character's husband.

But there are speculations that the main star of the show, Parsons, might not be coming back for a renewed season. One of the reasons that the star might not come back to the show is because he is working on two other projects.

According to Movie News Guide, Parsons is working on a prequel series to "The Big Bang Theory." The show will be focused on a teenage Sheldon back in Pasadena living with his mom and siblings.

Aside from the prequel series, he is also rumored to be working on his own sitcom with Freeform. According to Jobs & Hire, the show is known to be titled "The Monarch is Going to Shit," as confirmed by Movie Pilot. But there has been no confirmation yet about Parsons' status in returning for the show's 11th season.

"The Big Bang Theory" season 11 is expected to debut in September 2017.
