After the shocking circumstances surrounding the season 3 finale of "The Blacklist," fans are eagerly awaiting what could happen to Red Reddington and Elizabeth Keen, and it looks like they won't have to wait any longer.

To refresh viewers' memories, the season 3 ender saw Red using everything in his power to track down Alexander Kirk (Ulrich Thomsen) who ruined Liz's wedding to Tom (Ryan Eggold) and "killing" the former FBI agent. What Red didn't know was that Liz faked her death to get away from Red.

She later on met up with her fiancée and baby in Cuba, where Kirk was able to follow and kidnap her. It was while abducted by Kirk that Liz learned he was actually Constantine Rostova, her biological father.

The show's creator and executive producer, Jon Bokenkamp, dished on what "The Blacklist" season 4 will offer viewers. According to him, Red (James Spader), ex-criminal mastermind, would remain loyal to Liz (Megan Boone) despite her betrayal.

"I can't imagine him abandoning Liz," Bokenkamp said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. "She hurt him, but we often hurt the people we love. The fact he's been hurt isn't nearly enough for him to walk away."

Kirk's mystery has been revealed, but there's more to the series than meets the eye. Many questions still need answering, and the showrunner promises to address all those questions when the series returns for its fourth installment. Perhaps the ultimate question that needs addressing is why Kirk had to kidnap Liz just to admit how they are related instead of just reaching out to her.

There are talks that the cast and crew of "The Blacklist" are reconvening in New York so they could get started with season 4 filming by July 20.

Another thing to look forward to is the possibility of Liz working with Red again when the series returns.

Talking to Deadline, Bokenkamp confirmed that Red "certainly wouldn't work for the FBI" unless Liz was involved, hence, fans could see the two working together again. However, the showrunner was quick to note that the relationship between the two would be "strained." He also teased that fans would learn more about Red's real connection to Kirk.

"The Blacklist" season 4 returns on air on NBC on Sept. 22.
