'The Blacklist' season 4 updates: Liz and Tom face travails of parenthood? Red convinces Liz about her parentage?
"The Blacklist" season 4 will pick up from the shocking twists that made up the season 3 finale. Thus, fans could expect to see whether Liz Keen will reunite with her husband and young daughter.
Back in season 3's finale episode, Liz's (Megan Boone) husband, Tom (Ryan Eggold), escaped to Cuba with baby Agnes in tow. Liz was supposed to meet them there, but unfortunately, the same man who claims to be her biological father, Alexander Kirk (Ulrich Thomsen), kidnapped her.
Kirk being a father poses a problem on its own, as Red Reddington (James Spader) has a long history of hatred for the former. The latest promo video for "The Blacklist" season 4 seems to show Red trying hard to convince Liz that Kirk, who at one time was called Constantin Rostova, is not her father.
It also looks like Liz and Tom will have a problem on the home front, as the new parents face uncertainties in dealing with a complicated situation while raising a baby. This much was revealed by Eggold in an interview with TV Guide.
"What is at stake for their relationship is really their daughter ... Can they be parents? Can they bring a person into this chaotic, criminal world that they have?"
As parents, Liz and Tom's priority is to keep Agnes out of whatever mess they are embroiled in. It remains to be seen if Red will be there to help the new parents out.
Meanwhile, on the subject of Liz's parentage, it looks like Liz will finally learn if Kirk really is her biological father or if he was lying to her all along. Check out the latest trailer for season 4 below:
Liz is telling Red in the video that the only memory she has left of her father was during the night of the fire, which according to Red Liz's father was unable to survive. Liz asks him if he was there, and the clip of Red showing his scarred back proves he didn't only witness the fire but he was also likely inside the house when it happened.
That could be a pivotal point in season 4's arc, especially when Red tried to impress on Liz that Kirk could indeed be lying. He said in the video, "Alexander Kirk is fundamentally dishonest."
Was Kirk lying? Will Liz find out the truth about her parentage? What is Red's connection to Liz? Those questions will be answered when the show returns on air.
"The Blacklist" season 4 premieres Thursday, Sept. 22 at 10 p.m. ET on NBC.
