'The Conjuring 3' release date, rumors: To explore werewolves and demons?
It is still unknown if the supernatural horror film franchise "The Conjuring" will be given a go signal for a third movie, but there are already reports that are suggesting a possible storyline the upcoming installment.
Director James Wan revealed small pieces of information about the possible third movie during an interview with IGN. He said that the franchise, which focuses on the real-life paranormal cases of investigators Ed and Lorrain Warren, may focus on a different era.
Even though there is no confirmation that the third movie will push through, Wan shared his idea of changing the film's setting to 80s. "I do think Conjuring 1 and 2 are both set in the 70s, I think Conjuring 3 has got to be set in the 80s."
But which story will the movie possibly follow? The Warrens have spent most of their lives investigating and documenting paranormal phenomena. This means that there are a lot of materials that Wan and Warner Bros. can work with.
Wan was asked if he had one particular material in mind. He answered yes but did not divulge further details. He did mention a number stories that they can use for future installments. One of which was a case that is documented in the 1991 book that Ed published titled "Werewolf: A True Story of Demonic Possession."
It's speculated to be the next story that "The Conjuring 3" will be based on after Wan said in an interview that they could do a classic style featuring the theme of an "American Werewolf in London." If the speculations turn out to be true, then the third installment would include werewolves and demons.
None of the rumors has been confirmed, so it's best to take reports with a pinch of salt. And since "The Conjuring 2" just premiered last June, fans of the horror film franchise would have to wait a while for a third movie to be released. A premiere date has not been mentioned, but it is expected to hit theaters sometime in 2019 or in 2020, according to reports.
