It is going to be a long while before gaming fans have the chance to get their hands on "The Elder Scrolls 6."

Gaming fans were expecting that "The Elder Scrolls 6" would be announced during the last Electronic Entertainment Expo but were left disappointed because Bethesda spoke nothing about a new "Elder Scrolls" installment.

However, this does not completely dispel the possibility of having a sixth installment to the popular role-playing video game series. "The Elder Scrolls 6" will happen someday, just not anytime soon.

In an interview Glixel, game creator Todd Howard confirmed that they will be making "The Elder Scrolls 6" at some point, and he hopes to continue making several subsequent installments to the game series in the distant future if possible.

"It's not what you would call a big, active project right now," Howard said. "There are some other ones that we have going. We know it's important to our fans, and we need to be careful about setting expectations," he went on to say.

As a follow-up to "The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim," the fifth installment to "The Elder Scrolls" game series, expectations are certainly high. "Skyrim" was released worldwide for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, and the Xbox 360 back in November 2011, and the game turned out to be Bethesda's biggest commercial success, with 22.7 million copies reportedly sold worldwide. It was also met with critical acclaim, with a 96 rating (for the Xbox 360 version) from Metacritic.

In a report by Neurogadget, it is speculated that Bethesda will be installing a new game engine for "The Elder Scrolls 6," which will allow them to upgrade the graphics and game mechanics. It is also reported that the next installment in the franchise will be named "The Elder Scrolls: Argonia," implying that the game will be centered on the Argonian race.

Until Bethesda makes an official announcement confirming the beginning of the development of "The Elder Scrolls 6," fans of the game series will have to make do with "The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim" special edition for the time being.
