Although Bethesda just launched "The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Special Edition," gamers are already excited about its upcoming installment. "The Elder Scrolls 6" is a highly anticipated video game, but the company has yet to reveal official announcements about its development. Is the game really in the works?

There have been various rumors surrounding "The Elder Scrolls 6." However, Bethesda studio marketing vice president Peter Hines responded to a gamer on Twitter, who was pretty sure that the game was being developed.

The fan tweeted Hines, "Sorry but I'll have to disagree, given how Bethesda operates in the past. I'm sure it's in pre alpha state at the moment." Hines was succinct, but was very clear. He responded, "No. It isn't in development."

According to DigitalSpy, the sixth installment of the franchise isn't among Bethesda's top priorities. The news outlet suggests that the studio is currently working on two projects that have yet to launch. Hence, it might take a while before Bethesda actually works on "The Elder Scrolls 6."

This was recently corroborated by Hines. In a Twitter conversation with a follower, he confirmed that the studio is working on two titles which they want to finish first.

Nevertheless, fans of the franchise are still speculating on the possible features and gameplay that could be added to next installment.

Still, that hasn't stopped fans from speculating on what should appear on "The Elder Scrolls: 6." It is speculated that the setting for the next video game could be in Argonia/Black march. The news outlet noted that among the three locations in Tamriel, this particular location hasn't been used for the Bethesda game. Furthermore, there have been rumors about house and town building features. Similar to "Hearthfire," the "Skyrim Expansion" users will reportedly be able to customize their homes.

Since Bethesda has only recently accomplished the last downloadable content for "Fallout 4," and they are still preparing for the launching of "Dishonored 2," some suggest that fans of the franchise might not hear any official updates about the video game in the next two years.

Watch out for more updates on "The Elder Scrolls: 6."
