'The Fast and the Furious 8' movie release date news 2016: explosive new trailer released for 'The Fate of the Furious'

Universal Pictures officially launched the first look at the eighth installment of "The Fast and the Furious" movie franchise.

The new film will be called "The Fate of the Furious," the first one created after the sudden demise of lead actor Paul Walker.

Based on the trailer, Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) will betray his wife Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) and the rest of their crew when he decides to join a mysterious female terrorist named Cipher (Charlize Theron) to set up numerous crime activities in various parts of the world. Dom's former crew under the lead of Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) will be forced to work with one of their biggest enemies Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) to stop him from executing Cipher's evil plans.

According to the synopsis for the upcoming film that was posted on Heavy.com, "Now that Dom and Letty are on their honeymoon and Brian and Mia have retired from the game — and the rest of the crew has been exonerated — the globetrotting team has found a semblance of a normal life. But when a mysterious woman seduces Dom into the world of crime he can't seem to escape and a betrayal of those closest to him, they will face trials that will test them as never before. From the shores of Cuba and the streets of New York City to the icy plains off the arctic Barents Sea, our elite force will crisscross the globe to stop an anarchist from unleashing chaos on the world's stage ... and to bring home the man who made them a family."

The new film under the mega blockbuster hit franchise was helmed by "Straight Outta Compton" director F. Gary Gray.

The film will also feature the return of Tyrese Gibson as Roman Pearce and Ludacris as Tej Parker who will both join Letty and Hobbs and the rest of their crew to fight against their long-time friend and leader.

Nathalie Emmanuel will also return as the British computer hacker Ramsey, as well as Kurt Russell who will reprise his role as the mysterious Mr. Nobody.

Meanwhile, Scott Eastwood and Academy Award-winning actress Helen Mirren will also appear in "The Fate of the Furious," but their roles remain under wraps at the moment.

"The Fate of the Furious" will debut on the big screen on April 14, 2017.
