Saban Films has recently released an official U.S. trailer for the zombie movie "The Girl With All the Gifts," which opened in the UK last year.

Based on the novel of the same name by M.R. Carey, "The Girl With All the Gifts" is a story about a young girl named Melanie (Sennia Nanua), one of the many children kept at a military base, which is one of the only remaining safe havens in a zombie apocalypse.

Melanie is one of a small group of children who are immune to the effects of a mutated fungal disease which turned people into flesh-eating "hungries," leading humanity to the brink of extinction. In the search for a cure, the unique children, who have been infected by the zombie pathogen but have retained their thoughts and emotions, are subjected to cruel experiments by biologist Dr. Caldwell (Glenn Close).

All the while, the children still attend school, in which Melanie excels at. The girl stands out above all the rest for being inquisitive, imaginative, and for having a genius I.Q. level. When the base falls, Melanie escapes with Dr. Cadwell, Sergeant Parks (Paddy Considine), and her favorite teacher, Miss Justineau (Gemma Arterton). Ultimately, the special young girl is left to decide her own future and what the fate of the human race would be.

After being played on the film festival circuit last year, the film, like its novel version, received positive reviews. Rotten Tomatoes has given the film a critical rating of 84 percent and an audience score of 75 percent. The film was also given a score of 63 out of 100, indicating "generally favorable reviews", on Metacritic.

Directed by Colm McCarthy, the zombie apocalypse movie "The Girl With All the Gifts" will be available on DirecTV on Jan. 26 before it is released in select theaters and On Demand on Feb. 24.
