'The Incredibles 2' release date, plot news 2016: Main story is about Jack-jack
It's been 12 years since the last "Incredibles" movie was released, but fans will have to wait for three more years until they get to watch "The Incredibles 2" in theaters. According to reports, the movie will center on a 15-year-old Jack-jack, who was only a baby in the first movie.
According to reports, Brad Bird, the director of both the original and the upcoming films, has been very tight-lipped about the project, revealing very little information to the audience. His reason for doing so is because he doesn't want "The Incredibles 2" to be a commentary on the current over-saturation of superhero movies.
Samuel L. Jackson, who played Frozone in the first movie, has also been asked if he would be making an appearance in the sequel. He replied, "Everytime I run into Brad, he always tells me Frozone is part of what's going on [in the sequel], so I have to believe that. I guess they could be the 'Incredibles' without Frozone, but I think Frozone would be a wonderful addition to what's already there."
Another character reported to return is the villain, Syndrome (Jason Lee), which fans would think is unlikely since his character got sucked into a jet engine turbine in the last movie. According to reports, Syndrome will be present to turn Jack-jack against his own family — which was his initial plan when he kidnapped Jack-jack at the end of the first movie.
Another interesting bit about the movie is that the characters will have aged in real-time, meaning that characters like Dash (Spencer Fox), who was a child in the first movie, will be a full-fledged adult. It is also rumored that he will get into a huge tiff with Jack-jack in the movie. Brad Bird also wants to emphasize that the movie will focus more on the family dynamic between the characters, as compared to the superhero element.
"The Incredibles 2" is set to release in June 2019.
