'The Incredibles 2' spoilers, plot news: Less spotlight on powers, more on characters
Fans will be able to catch up with the Parr Family in "The Incredibles 2." Although many would like to see them in action showing off their superhero skills, the film will also explore how they are as people.
In the first film, the family learned all their abilities and managed to use them in working together. For "The Incredibles 2," director Brad Bird plans to explore the Parrs as how they are.
"The powers themselves are not that interesting, it's the people that are interesting and how they react to having those powers," the filmmaker told IGN.
"I'm basically sticking with the approach that I had in the movie we did, which is that it's really about the characters than it is about bursting through walls or something like that," he continued.
With that said, it appears that "The Incredibles 2" will be all about major character development and will see the family grow as a unit and as individuals.
There are tons of speculations about the sequel regarding Jack-Jack, who discovered his powers at the end of the first film allowing him to help defeat Syndrome.
It is being said that he will be an impressionable teenager in "The Incredibles 2" confused and struggling about his abilities, which will lead him to become a villain.
When asked about this as well as the return of Edna Mode, who is voiced by Bird, the director kept his cards close to his chest as he does not want to spoil the surprise.
"If you tell too much there's no fun for the audience and if you don't tell anything everyone gets mad and says 'there better be a big twist!' You'll have to wait and see," Bird said.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Bird said that they are taking "The Incredibles 2" to a "new directions," adding that they are excited about it.
"The Incredibles 2" hits the cinemas 2019.
