This is the announcement that gamers have been waiting for. Naughty Dog and Sony Computer Entertainment has decided to roll out the big guns at the PlayStation Experience (PSX) event during the weekend by releasing the trailer for "The Last of Us 2."

As seen in the trailer, Ellie is back for the sequel and some time has passed between the first game and "The Last of Us 2" because she looks all grown up. She must have been in a fight because her hands were in a bad shape and she also has a wound on her head which hasn't been patched up yet. Ellie sings a song with the lines "I'll kill all my enemies when they come," which sounded quite vicious even though she sang it calmly.

While she was singing a man enters the house she's staying in and he sees a couple of dead bodies. Perhaps those were the people who gave Ellie her wounds. Looks like she got the better of that exchange, though. When the man reaches the door, viewers would see that it's Joel, or at least it appears to be. His entire face wasn't shown.

When Ellie finishes her song, she announced that she's going to find and kill every last one of them. Sounds like Ellie is not messing around this time and the years she spent in the post-apocalyptic wasteland has hardened her.

During a panel discussion at PSX 2016 (via Kotaku), "The Last of Us 2" game director Neil Druckmann revealed that the sequel was going to be about hate.

"If the first game was really about the love between these two characters, this story is the counter of that. This is story is about hate, through Ellie this time. The first game you play as Joel, this game you play as Ellie," he said. "She's gone through some shit," he added.

Meanwhile, Kotaku has reported that "The Last of Us" co-director Bruce Straley isn't involved with the project. Apparently, Straley is on a yearlong sabbatical, so that means Druckmann is on his own this time.
