'The Maze Runner: The Death Cure' release date, news: Lead actor Dylan O'Brien seen filming for the first time since on-set accident
After sustaining serious injuries while filming for "The Maze Runner: The Death Cure," Dylan O'Brien is certainly back to work.
According to Entertainment Tonight, the 25-year-old was seen working for the first time since his on-set injury. However, he was seen filming for another project, the 2017 action thriller "American Assassin." While speaking to some crew members, O'Brien appeared cheerful on the film's Rome set last Wednesday. He was spotted sporting a longer hairstyle and wearing a costume as his character Mitch Rapp, a counterterrorism operative.
Earlier this year, the actor suffered from serious injuries while shooting a scene for "The Maze Runner: The Death Cure." Reports say he had several broken bones and needed to take a break for a few months to recover. O'Brien has yet to comment on the incident, but a report detailing the on-set accident was released by infonews.ca which reads: "An action sequence was being filmed for a motion picture. This young worker was attached to a vehicle by a harness, lanyard, and overhead truss system when he climbed onto the back (of) another vehicle. As the vehicles slowed, the trailing vehicle the worker was anchored to slowed more rapidly than the vehicle the worker climbed onto."
Following his accident in March, O'Brien was first spotted out and about in August. Around September, he began working on another upcoming film titled "American Assassin." Production for "The Maze Runner: The Death Cure" resumes February 2017, pushing the film's release date to 2018.
Based on the third installment in James Dashner's book series, "The Death Cure" centers on Thomas as he embarks on a journey to search for a cure to a deadly disease known as the "Flare."
"The Maze Runner: The Death Cure" officially hits the big screen on Jan. 12, 2018, in the U.S.
