'The Originals' season 4 news, spoilers: Friends become foes in upcoming season? Unlikely alliances formed?
"The Originals" season 4 is still without a definite air date, but fans are treated to plot spoilers now and then by no less than the show's lead stars to tide them over until midseason of 2017.
When season 3 ended, Klaus Mikaelson (Joseph Morgan) was left incapacitated by the Tundae blade. No less than his surrogate son Marcel Gerard (Charles Michael Davis) staked Klaus with it, and one of the closing scenes showed the former entombing a semi-conscious Klaus.
Klaus' siblings, on the other hand, were left suspended in an alternate dimension, the dreamscape, after Freya (Riley Voelkel) cast a spell over her and her siblings to escape death. The episode ended with Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) driving the Mikaelson siblings' coffins to safety, with her toddler daughter, Hope, in tow.
Since "The Originals" season 4 will see a five-year time jump, Hope (Summer Fontana) will no longer be an innocent two-year-old. She's now seven and curious about her father.
To appease fans' feelings about the longer wait for the fourth season, Morgan took to Instagram to tease exciting things for the show. In the video, he said that New Orleans will turn upside down as viewers see things they previously thought were impossible.
Klaus will be there, he assured, and will rise anew with newfound powers after being left for dead. As to who will save him is still a matter of discussion, but speculations point to Hope as her father's savior. On the other hand, some say Marcel will save Klaus once he senses an even greater danger looming.
Morgan goes on to tease about betrayal and the forming of unlikely alliances. Apparently, characters who had beef with one another will be forced to work together while former allies will turn hostile to each other. In the words of the actor, season 4 will "change the dynamics of the characters."
There will also be a new psycho vampire on the loose who will be going after the children of New Orleans and Klaus, too.
Incidentally, the episode order for "The Originals" season 4 has dropped from 22 to 13, and while The CW hasn't formally addressed rumors of the show's cancellation, fans are worried the show will suffer the same fate as its parent series, "The Vampire Diaries."
"The Originals" season 4 is expected to drop in midseason 2017 on The CW.
