The Master is not dead and the war against the strigoi is far from over.

However, one good thing that came out of the fourth episode of "The Strain" season 3 is that Quinlan (Rupert Penry-Jones) is still alive. He's probably also the first one to know for certain that he had failed to kill the Master.

He may have gone through a moment of fear and doubt but he definitely would not back down from his sworn mission, especially now that he's gone rogue. According to IGN, this may lead to Quinlan possibly going after the Master's extended family in his anger.

The only person who felt like celebrating over their presumed victory was Fet (Kevin Durand) but his celebratory mood was cut short by Eph (Corey Stoll). Eph confessed that he had stolen the Occido Lumen in hopes of luring the Master out with it and, therefore, retrieve his son, Zach (Max Charles). Eph failed to get his son back and in the process also lost the Lumen. This angered Fet and caused Setrakian (David Bradley) to turn Eph away from his house.

Eph found refuge in Fet's house and eventually reunited with the estranged Dutch (Ruta Gedmintas), who tried to offer him comfort by assuring him that Zach was okay. But now that the Master was gone, Eph did have a cause for worry, since his son was nearly stung by a strigoi.

Zach must now only rely on the protection of his mother, Kelly (Natalie Brown). This did not prove to be much especially now that the Master was presumed dead and the strigoi, like what Setrakian had feared, were starting to turn feral.

Good thing Eichhorst (Richard Sammel) stepped up and launched an attack on the command center ran by councilwoman Feraldo (Samantha Mathis), who almost ended up with a blood worm in her eye if not for Fet arriving just in time to keep her from turning.

At this point, the New Yorkers had figured out that their fight was not yet over. By the end of the episode, the Master showed himself to Eph by taking over a strigoi's body and told the stunned epidemiologist that Zach was still alive. He said the boy was with him and would always be with him, which seemed to hint on a grand plan he had in store for Eph's child.

According to TV Guide, the next episode of "The Strain" will see Setrakian seeking his rival, Palmer (Jonathan Hyde), for help regarding the Lumen. Additionally, Eph will be pushed to the brink of madness by his own experiments, while Fet will set out to track strigoi activities in New York.

"The Strain" season 3 episode 5 titled, "Madness" will air on Sunday, Sept. 25 at 10 p.m. EDT on FX.
