'The Vampire Diaries' season 8 release date, plot spoilers: Allison Scagliotti of 'Stitchers,' Warehouse 13,' joins cast
"Warehouse 13" grad Allison Scagliotti is boarding "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 in a recurring role.
According to TVLine, the actress, who is also in Freeform's "Stitchers," will play the role of Georgie in the upcoming eighth season of The CW's supernatural drama. The official character description for Georgie calls her an occult research intern who is "driven by a horrific darkness in her own past."
The character "channels her existential anxieties into a new field of study that will force her to confront her deepest fears."
Entertainment Weekly suggests that this new field may help Stefan (Paul Wesley) and the rest find out what went on with Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Enzo (Michael Malarkey).
According to TVLine, Scagliotti will make her "Vampire Diaries" debut as Georgie in the season 8 premiere episode.
Prior to her roles in "The Vampire Diaries" and "Stitchers," Scagliotti had a five-season run in Syfy's "Warehouse 13." The actress was also in "Drake & Josh," "Person of Interest," and "Fresh Off the Boat."
"Gosh, thanks for the love everybody," the actress tweeted on Wednesday, July 20. "I promise not to steer your ships off course. (I don't actually know, I've only seen one script)."
Apart from Scagliotti, "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 will also feature another newcomer, "Containment" grad Kristen Gutoskie.
Gutoskie has a recurring role in the show's eighth season as Seline, a nanny who is trying to find her place in the world.
Though The CW is keeping a tight lid on the eighth season of "The Vampire Diaries," executive producer Julie Plec told TVLine in May that the new season will see Caroline (Candice King) and Stefan enjoying a period of just being a normal happy couple.
"I'd really like to see Caroline and Stefan enjoy some of that comfort for as long as we can eek it out, before they have to stumble across another obstacle," she said.
"The Vampire Diaries" returns on Friday, Oct. 21, at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
