Tyler Lockwood, the werewolf-turned-hybrid played by Michael Trevino in "The Vampire Diaries," will re-emerge in season 8, which will be the show's last.

Trevino left the teen/supernatural drama at the end of its sixth season but reappeared as a guest in season 7.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Trevino is set to guest star in the third episode of season 8. In the episode, Tyler will be facing off against Damon (Ian Somerhalder) in a continuation of their final fight in season 6. In the season 6 finale, Trevino's last as a series regular, Tyler and Damon had an encounter that ended with the former getting beaten until he was unconscious. Fortunately, Tyler appears to have survived the beating.

EW notes that in season 8, Tyler will attempt to talk sense into Damon, who will be spiraling into darkness after his experience in the vault in the season 7 finale.

Between his season 6 exit and Tyler's season 8 return, Trevino appeared as the man keeping Elena's (Nina Dobrev) body safe in season 7.

As for Dobrev, who also left "The Vampire Diaries" at the end of season 6, it still remains to be seen whether she will be back for the show's final run.

In August, CW president Mark Pedowitz told the press at the Television Critics Association's press tour that "there are discussions going on" with the "Vampire Diaries" alum. "We'd love to have Nina back," he said. "She was great for The CW. She was integral for 'The Vampire Diaries,'" he added.

Meanwhile, it looks as though fans will be seeing a lot of Bonnie (Kat Graham) in the upcoming season. In a trailer for season 8, the powerful witch is seen searching the woods for Damon alongside Stefan (Paul Wesley).

According to TV Line, "The Vampire Diaries" executive producer Julie Plec recently said that in season 8, Bonnie will have a "pretty unlucky run of trying to get her magic back" and may even come to the point of giving up.

"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 will debut on Friday, Oct. 21, at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
