"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 won't be back on air until next week, but episode 6 titled "Detoured on Some Random Backwoods Path to Hell" will be worth the wait.

The episode will see Seline (Kristen Gutoskie) kidnap the twins and rendezvous with Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Sybil (Nathalie Kelley) to enact their heinous plan.

It is to be pointed out that the title of "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 episode 6 is a shoutout to a quote said by Caroline in the episode from the first season, "Let the Right One In" where she discovers the corpse of Matt's (Zach Roerig) sister Vicki (Kayla Ewell).

After learning of the dangers that her poor kids are facing, Caroline (Candice King) vows to stop at nothing to bring the girls back to safety.

"If Damon gets between me and my kids, I am going to kill him," she warns Stefan (Paul Wesley), who is left with no choice.

The problem puts Caroline and Alaric (Matt Davis) at odds with each other as they realize what the future entails for them as a family.

But ultimately, it pushes Stefan to make what the synopsis for "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 episode 6 teases as an "unexpected sacrifice."

Like Caroline, Stefan will make sure to keep the twins out of harm's way. The synopsis teases that Stefan will dive into his subconscious, which could be part of his plan to beat the sirens.

During the process, he "sets off a chain of events that leaves him faced with a life-changing decision." This suggests the possibility that Stefan has had enough of bringing Damon back, which is like helping someone who does not want to be helped.

Directed by Wesley himself, "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 episode 6, "Detoured on Some Random Backwoods Path to Hell," will air on Friday, Dec. 2 at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
