'The Vampire Diaries' season 8 episode 9 spoilers: Sybil copies Elena to corrupt Damon

Sybil (Nathalie Kelley) is back at it again with messing with Damon's (Ian Somerhalder) memory of Elena (Nina Dobrev) come the next episode of "The Vampire Diaries" season 8.

In episode 9, "The Simple Intimacy of the Near Touch," she recreates the time Elena joined the Miss Mystic Falls beauty pageant, where she and Damon's love story began.

Damon, Stefan (Paul Wesley), Caroline (Candice King) Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) will all be attending the said event for this year.

The Salvatore brothers are back in Mystic Falls in the first place because they are in search of the artifact that can ultimately destroy Sybil. They are there, where Miss Mystic Falls is being held, to make sure no one uses it against them.

"This place was the beginning of their vomit-inducing love story," Stefan tells Sybil in the promo for "The Vampire Diaries" season 8, episode 9.

In her effort to trample with Damon's precious recollections of the love of his life, Sybil wears the same dress Elena donned in the event. She managed to trick Damon to the point that he thought Sybil was Elena.

"You need to get a grip," Sybil warns him. The next second, Damon is pushing her face to the mirror. Whether or not it is her face he sees or that of Elena, it remains to be seen.

"The Vampire Diaries" season 8, episode 9 will also see Bonnie make a life-changing decision. She returns to Mystic Falls from Paris wearing a vile of Enzo's blood.

The preview shows they will share an intimate moment during the event. It would seem that Bonnie's mind is made up, but fans will have to wait and see.

As for Stefan, he continues to be the ripper and he seems to be enjoying every minute of it. This is not the case for Damon though, who is worried about his baby brother. This causes a strain in their relationship.

"As Stefan finds himself more tempted by the darkness around him, Damon's going to become frustrated by the road his brother wants to travel down," executive producer Julie Plec told TVLine.

"The Vampire Diaries" season 8, episode 9, "The Simple Intimacy of the Near Touch," airs Friday, Jan. 20, at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
