'The Vampire Diaries' season 8 air date, spoilers news: New trailer teases Steroline action, Alaric losing second chance at love & bad Damon
Bad Damon (Ian Somerhalder) is officially back and he's got some bad news to break for the residents of Mystic Falls in "The Vampire Diaries" season 8.
"This is the beginning of the end," a crazed Damon told Stefan (Paul Wesley), who wondered what horrendous things were in that vault that changed his brother, in the trailer for the premiere "Hello, Brother."
"I've seen how this ends. Humanity can't save me from it. Once the devil comes a-callin', you're done," he continued as "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 trailer showed glimpses of throat-slicing, blood-dipping and neck-biting.
The title of the new season pays homage to the pilot episode of the vampire drama. "Hello, brother" also happens to be the words Damon told Stefan the first time his ruthlessness took over.
However, executive producer Julie Plec has pointed out that Damon's dark turn in "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 is different than the previous ones.
"This isn't the Damon who's in it for the thrill and the wicked perverse pleasure; he's doing this for a reason," the EP explained to TVLine.
"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 also promised Steroline action, which fans missed in the previous season. Stefan and Caroline (Candice King) are back together and things get steamier than ever.
The teaser also gives a glimpse of newcomer Seline (Kristen Gutoskie), whose throat is being slashed by someone believed to be Damon. It is a mystery if she survived that though. There's no word on the extent of her role.
Seline will play the role of a loving nanny to Alaric's (Matt Davis) twins. Through this, she will get closer to the dad of two although that attack on "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 trailer could take that away.
Other creepy elements featured in the trailer include limbs hanging on hooks of the same warehouse. In the previous season, those are actually bodies, but they are no more.
Zap2it suggests that somebody may have been devouring them and the site's guess is that the monster in the vault seems to be very hungry.
"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 will premiere Friday, Oct. 21 at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
