'The Walking Dead' season 7 news: Steven Yeun on saying goodbye to castmates

The most anticipated episode of the AMC hit series "The Walking Dead" ("TWD") will air in a matter of weeks and fans are on the brink of finally learning who among Rick Grimes' (Andrew Lincoln) group of survivors will meet his/her end via Lucille.

In an interview with Chris Hardwick during "The Walking Dead" panel at the New York Comic Con last weekend, writer/producer Scott Gimple admitted that the unfortunate character will be identified within the first hour of the season 7 premiere.

If the popular zombie apocalypse series would stay true to its source material, the Robert Kirkman-penned "Walking Dead" comic book series, one of the show's fan-favorite characters will be leaving in the season 7 opener.

In the comics, Glenn (Steven Yeun) got his head bashed by Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) in the infamous issue #100. In the TV series, Glenn has been through a number of close calls, including the notorious dumpster scene in season 6's "Thank You" episode.

When asked about the season 7 premiere, Yeun avoided giving away clues about which of the "TWD" cast members will be exiting the series. Nonetheless, he shared his feelings about saying goodbye to the cast.

"It's always a bummer," Yeun said. "I'll leave it at that," he added.

While the writers did a great job of building up the momentum for season 7 after finally introducing Negan and Lucille in the last episode of season 6, it remains to be seen if Morgan's portrayal of the villain will live up to the hype.

With only 13 minutes of "The Walking Dead" airtime so far, many believe that Morgan has already met and possibly surpassed their expectations.

As Morgan told Hardwick, the charismatic and cocky Negan is "a bit of a showman," which was quite evident in how he savored the attention while he "played" with Rick and his group in the season 6 finale.

The show's newest and probably best villain so far strikes fear not only in the hearts of his victims but also among his own. According to Morgan, many of his followers are "scared s—less" of him, which is why they follow his orders. This is also why he is such an effective villain.

"The Walking Dead" season 7 will debut on Sunday, Oct. 23, at 9 p.m. EDT on AMC.
