The Walking Dead season 7 news: Will Daryl face an imminent death?
The fate of one of the fan-favorite characters in "The Walking Dead" might be in danger when the second half of season 7 returns on AMC.
In the midseason finale of season 7, Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) managed to escape the clutches of the Saviors with Jesus (Tom Payne). The two headed over to the gates of Hilltop to be reunited with Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and the rest of the group in order to take down their biggest enemy to date — Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan).
Yet speculations claim that Daryl might meet his untimely end when the post-apocalyptic series return on air in Feb. 2017.
According to the speculations from iDigitalTimes, Daryl might choose to sacrifice himself to make Negan pay for Glenn's (Steven Yeun) death.
The publication pointed out the Daryl might be blaming himself for Glenn's death because of his sudden outburst in front of Negan when he killed Abraham (Michael Cudlitz). This could drive him to return to Negan's lair by himself in order to attack Negan's men in preparation for the group's mission to kill the leader of the Saviors.
There is also a possibility to see Dwight (Austin Amelio) search for Daryl and present him back to Negan to get on his leader's good side. This could be his way to protect his ex-wife Sherry (Christine Evangelista) since she is suspected to be the one who set Daryl free from captivity.
However, both AMC and Reedus' camps have yet to address the rumors about Daryl's possible death in the second half of season 7.
Meanwhile, "The Walking Dead" creator Robert Kirkman told ComicBook.com that despite the current ratings' slump of the series, they are still planning to keep the show alive as long as the fans want them to.
"It took us six seasons to get to 100," Kirkman stated. "It won't take us six years to get to 200 and that will take us to season ... TWELVE. And we'll still be ahead of the show at that point."
The next episode of "The Walking Dead" season 7 is slated to return on AMC on Sunday, Feb. 12.
