'The Walking Dead' season 7 spoilers, cast news: Daryl and Negan arrive in Alexandria; Elizabeth Ludlow cast as Arat
The next episode of "The Walking Dead" season 7 will find Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) arriving at Alexandria with his prisoner, Daryl (Norman Reedus), in tow.
In the promo clip for "Service," the fourth episode in the current season, Negan and the Saviors visit the community that has served as Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and his group's home since the show's fifth season. The Alexandria safe zone is a suburban community that the survivors have fortified and defended from both walkers and humans in the post-zombie apocalypse world.
After unleashing his wrath on Rick and his friends in the season 7 premiere, Negan will now try to torment the remaining survivors in their peaceful haven. The new villain will also come face to face with some of the other Alexandrians, including Fr. Gabriel Stokes (Seth Gilliam) and Spencer Monroe (Austin Nichols).
Meanwhile, Daryl, who has remained defiant despite the torture inflicted by Negan and Dwight (Austin Amelio), will be back in Alexandria for the first time since he was kidnapped by the Saviors in season 6.
Apart from Negan's and Daryl's appearance in Alexandria, "Service" will introduce a new female character, Arat, played by "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" actress Elizabeth Ludlow. Arat plays a key role in the "Walking Dead" comics, as does Laura, who is played by "House of Cards" alum Lindsley Register and was introduced in the previous episode. Both Arat and Laura are important members of Negan's Saviors.
"I can definitively say that my dear friend Liz is not playing Laura, as that is me," Register told Comicbook.com. "We've got a crazy season lined up for you guys," she added.
In the comic book series, Laura is a love interest of Dwight's, who, by the time she is introduced, is the new leader of the Saviors and an ally of Rick's. Arat, who makes her debut in "Service," is said to be based on the comic book character Tara.
"The Walking Dead" season 7 airs Sundays at 9 p.m. EST on AMC.
