'The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt' Release Date, DLC Expansion Pack News: Game to Have 2 Expansion Packs

CD PROJEKT RED

"The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" is the next installment in the Witcher game franchise and is due for release on May 19.

With the development of the game over, CD Projekt Red, the studio behind it, has been announcing plans for a DLC which will feature two expansions that will add about 30 hours of gameplay.

Already there is a lot of buzz around "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt." Indications are that gamers will require 200 hours to traverse the full game and its side quests. In 2013, the estimate was that it would take 100 hours to complete the game. Since then, the game's release was pushed from its expected launch date in 2014 to May of this year.

Recently, senior game designer Damien Monnier took to Twitter and stated that "it would take 200 hours to do everything that the game had to offer."

This statement set off a round of feverish online speculation as gamers wondered how the game would keep people interested in it. There has been no news on that particular front, but CD Projekt Red has been outlining its plans for the two expansion packs.

The first expansion pack is titled "Hearts of Stone" and it is slated for release this October. In the game, the character Geralt will go on a adventure as he explores No Man's Land and Oxenfurt. In this pack, which is due to last about 10 hours, he will have to fulfill a contract he made with the Man of Glass and face deception and enemies.

The other pack is titled "Blood and Wine" and will be released in the first quarter of next year. It will feature about 20 hours of gameplay and will be based on a new region of Toussaint which has not be affected by war. There Geralt will discover a deadly secret hidden behind a mask of knightly rituals and indulgence.

"The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" and its expansion packs will be released for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
